Published: 2 Feb 2007Today IT +46 has released the first version of a set of surveys and studies prepared for the Making ICT work for the poor initiative. The project, supported by the United Nation Development Programme, explores the potential of community-driven infrastructure.
The reports summarize the findings of the field studies conducted by local teams in Mbale (Uganda), Bugabo (Tanzania), Tabaka (Kenya) and Nyamata (Rwanda). The surveys assess the viability of deployment of four wireless community networks. All the reports include radio simulations and a proposed topology for the network infrastructure.
Four technical studies, in the areas of wireless terrestrial connectivity, FM radio broadcasting and VoIP connectivity alternatives are also part of this work. The documents are available for download here
